How to Raise Cash Quickly if You Have a Low Credit Score
Everything Finance, Retirement & Savings, Read & Learn Add commentsIndividuals often fall into situations when they need cash fast but have no way of getting it. Credit is not an option, since your score numbers are really low. So here are a couple of alternative ways to raise some cash quickly.
Seek help from family and friends. This is the first thing on your To-do list. Talk to your parents / offsprings and other relatives. Call your best friends and ask them to lend you some money. Don’t take money from your colleagues. Make sure that you pay those loans on time. You won’t be charged interest if you don’t but you will never get a loan from them again.
Sell your old stuff. And the new stuff also.Look around and see what you can get rid of. You can easily sell electronics and furniture on Craigslist. If you don’t have anything old to sell, price your new belongings. You can always get another TV, DVD, stereo when you are in a better financial shape. Sell your books, CD’s & DVD’s, video and computer games. You can pretty much sell everything that you can live without, just post it and then post it again and again. You will be surprised what people are looking for.
Empty the change jar.If you have a change jar cash it in - look around for a CoinStar (to locate the nearest one go here: CoinStar locator). Check all your pockets and your car - you will surely find something.
Talk to your employer. Many companies will allow to take your paycheck in advance. Speak to your boss or HR department and see if they can arrange that for you. Keep in mind that you will not receive a paycheck for a while after that.
Get a cash advance from your plastic. Most of your credit cards will allow you to take a cash advance. APR’s are high but when you need cash you need it. If you don’t have your PIN number, take the credit card that you want to withdraw from, your driver’s license and another credit card from a bank, that has a branch nearby. You will be able to get an advance from the card that you don’t have a PIN for by using your other plastic as identification.
Get a job.You have at least one full-time already, but how about something that you can do once and get cash-in-hand? Scan craigslist’s ETC job section, you will surely find somebody who needs help moving or something else that can thicken your wallet.
Take a Payday loan. This is a risky option. Try not to borrow trough the Internet ones, they are a potential identity stealer. Make sure that you can pay those asap (if not earlier) because will will get hit by the incredibly high interests if you miss your payments.
Try a credit union loan. Credit unions have lowered requirements when it comes to personal loans. If you have a credit union through your job, even better. When stating the reason for your loan, write “for education expenses”, it will give you more chance to obtain the loan.
Home Equity loans. Any homeowner who has equity can open a Home Equity line of credit. The value of your home minus the amount you still owe is your equity and that will be used as a collateral for your loan.
Some final thoughts: Establish an emergency fund so you don’t have to go through all this again. Some of the options above (like the payday loan or the home equity line of credit) are risky and can possibly bury you even deeper.
